Well goodness, it has been a while since I have updated here - the last time was in mid August. :-)
Since then I have returned to my home in NYC and returned to real life, so to speak, from the awesome summer that was Colorado and the SCRT.

Since I've been back, I've managed to make pretty good use of my time and my membership in SAG-AFTRA by working a fair amount on the TV shows filming here in NYC. After joining Central Casting, I've had the fortune of working on the new shows Elementary and Made in Jersey, as well as Blue Bloods and Law & Order: SVU. Its been a pretty fun time :-)

And now, I am pleased to announce my latest stage show is opening tonight! I will be appearing as Nephew George in the Musicals Tonight production of Fade out Fade In at the Lion Theatre (TheatreRow, NYC). We run for two weeks as a staged reading. Its a fun show, full of very talented people. I'm glad to be a part of the show and the experience. Its a good welcome back to New York City to be actually performing in NYC. :-)

For info on the show click: here!

After the show, it'll be back to the grind of auditions and working. But I'm excited about that future. Things as always, seem to be looking up.

Thanks for stopping by friends.

It's the Final Countdown!

Well, last Friday marked the opening of the final show of the season at Southern Colorado Rep, The Fox on the Fairway.
And what a wonderful farce it is. Penned by Ken Ludwig, the action packed gem set on a golf course has been so much fun to put together. I play a terrific character in Justin Hicks - the young idiot savant at Golf, who doesn't know how good he is.

And hilarity ensues. The show has been selling well for the opening weekend - and we are hoping more is to come.
As with other opening weekends, we had wonderful pictures taken for the show.

You can check out the latest from Fox on the Fairway: here!
And if you missed any of the pictures from earlier in the season, click: here!

And we got reviewed for Fox! Yay!
Here's the one that specifically mentions me:
"...The Show depends heavily on physical comedy, in which our Justin, Matt DuMont, excels. Who would have guessed that the nerdy dentist of "On Golden Pond", who showed us he could sing and dance in "They're Playing our Song", would turn out to be the Dick Van Dyke of SCRT?"
Check out some additional snippets: here!

Its been a thrilling and amazing summer here at SCRT in Trinidad, CO and I'm a little sad to see it go. Adventures have been had (with a few more before Adrienne and I leave) that will be remembered forever. And a second home and family here in Colorado. What a wonderful summer, not only of Theater, but to get to spend it all with my lovely girlfriend has really taken the cake.

Well. Farewell Trinidad and SCRT. You've been darn good to me.

To quote my character Justin (to the left), "I shall return!"

As always friends, thanks for reading!

Another Openin' Another Show!

Well friends, another opening at the Southern Colorado Repertory Theatre happened last night, so its time to update the website with fun stuff like pictures from the show!

Last night marked the opening of "They're Playing Our Song" at the SCRT and the opening Gala. The show, a musical love story between a composer and lyricist, set in the 70s is a fun upbeat show with lots of great dancing and music. I play one of the composer's (A man named Vernon - played by Jake Williamson) inner voices.

Its an interesting show to be sure, but a lot of fun to perform. So if you are in the area, come down for some laughs, good music, and a charming love story.

To check out the pictures from the show, click: here!
And if you missed them you can check out Golden Pond: here!

So now that Song is open, we have a day off Monday - so Adrienne and I are going on a road trip to Santa Fe with her Aunt Chris! Yay! We are very excited both for a day off as well as adventure.

Then we come back and start rehearsals for the third show of the season, Fox of the Fairway  (a farce set in a golf course club house), on Tuesday. There's always something exciting going on it seems. :-)

So the adventure continues. Stay tuned for the Fox update in a few weeks.
As always, thanks for stopping by!

Well, time seems to have flown once again and here I am updating a huge amount of info into one big update.

Hi friends!
So, I am now in Trinidad, Colorado, performing with the Southern Colorado Repertory Theatre.
We opened the first show of the season, On Golden Pond, this past Friday! The cast and company is truly wonderful, as is Trinidad in general.

If you want to check out some production photos, click: Here!

Adrienne and I arrived here in Trinidad on June 4th, and dived straight into rehearsal - two weeks later, the show opened to standing ovations! I play the role of Bill Ray, the dentist, and its a wonderful wonderful experience. I am so lucky to be doing what I am doing.

Today, SCRT began the rehearsal process for our second show in the summer season: They're Playing Our Song. We open the show on July 6th - so here's to diving in! I'm excited for the show, as its the only musical in the season. Lots of singing and dancing, here we come!

Life in Trinidad is great! There is a beautiful state park just outside of town, with plenty of hiking and sights to see. Adrienne and I are planning on a long hike this summer there. There is also plenty of beautiful bluffs and mountains encircling the city - something I just miss so much when I'm in NYC. I love the mountains. :-)

Well friends, its back to rehearsal. As always, thanks for stopping by!

Hello friends! Thanks for stopping by.
A lot of new and exciting things have been added to the website, but more on that in a minute.

This past Saturday (May 5th) saw the close of Spring Awakening at the Roxy Regional Theater (Clarksville, TN). The show was literally a dream come true. When I saw the production on Broadway in 2006 (the only show I have attended on Broadway twice) I said to myself that I had to do Spring Awakening. I said to myself that I had to play Melchior Gabor. A bit of a dream role in a dream show. Six years later, I was so fortunate to have those dreams come true, with the brilliant cast I just shared the stage with. I will be forever grateful to the artistic directors, Tom Thayer and John McDonald, for the opportunity to perform on the Roxy stage.

Sadly though, all journeys must come a close. As I fondly remember the cast and production of Spring Awakening, I am beyond proud to announce my next destination.

I will be performing in three shows this summer at the Southern Colorado Repertory Theater in Trinidad, CO!
The shows are: On Golden Pond (Billy Ray), They're Playing Our Song (Ensemble), and Fox of the Fairway (Justin)
And not only will I be fortunate enough to be gainfully employed for the entire summer, but I am so happy to report that my amazing girlfriend Adrienne Bergeron will be sharing the stage with me in Trinidad. I can not wait to get out there and begin work on these three amazing shows and spend a summer with Adrienne. Dreams do indeed do come true =)

Now this has been a big update already, but prepare yourself - there is more! :-)
I have now uploaded production photos of Spring Awakening to the Production photo page. You can find them: here!
I have also added a brand spanking new section to the website - Reviews! I was so honored to receive some amazing reviews in Spring Awakening, that a review section was warranted. Feel free to navigate to the review section along the top of the page, or click: Here!

Well friends, that is enough for now. But keep your eyes peeled - I have dvds of Spring Awakening so footage of the show will be making it up onto this website as soon as I can edit and such.

As always, thanks for reading.

Oh my goodness!
It has been a while since I've updated and a ton has happened.

Well first things first. I have just successfully opened a run of Spring Awakening (With Schoolhouse Rock Live in Rep) at the Roxy Regional Theater in Clarksville, TN. And what a joy it is to be playing a role of my dreams in this amazing show with a truly wonderful cast. Everyone in the show is insanely talented and I am humbled and blessed to share the stage with them.
Though we have this coming week off due to the Rivers and Spires festival in Clarksville (But you can catch us singing songs from the show at the festival on thursday!), we do have 8 shows left so come on down and see it! And if my opinion didn't sway you, maybe this review will. =)

Broadway World Nashville came and reviewed the show on Friday night. And it was a glowing review to say the least. I hope all my future reviews are a fraction of what this gentleman wrote. Here's a few snippits: (Or the entire article: here!)

"DuMont, handsome and self-assured, plays Melchior with the easy swagger of a teen heartthrob while imbuing his character with the depth and complexity that comes from a thoroughly thought-out and well-conceived performance."

I have never been reviewed personally before in my life. I've been in shows that have been reviewed of course, but this is the first time I have ever had my name mentioned. And my goodness I feel so blessed to be a part of this production. Eight more performances. Its not enough.

In other news, SAG and AFTRA merged two weeks ago to become the new and improved SAG-AFTRA. Yay! So I went from being a member of 0/3 unions to 1/2 in just a month. That's a good feeling. I look forward to having the benefits of a union behind my work now when I am doing film and commercials. What a joy.

Well, that's enough for now.
Thanks for reading, as always friends!

Hello Friends!
Well, its been quite a while since an update. My apologies.
Things have been very good though. Auditions are happening and I took off some time in February to spend with my wonderful girlfriend Adrienne Bergeron.

Now that I am back, it is back to the grind. More auditions, but what is most exciting is that I received my scripts for the upcoming Spring Awakening and Schoolhouse Rock Live at the Roxy Theater. Yay! So now I am using my free time to begin to memorize lines and songs.

I am also very proud to announce that as of yesterday I am a full-fledged member of AFTRA, at New York Local. My first Actor Union! I am very, very happy to have made this important and necessary step in my career towards things like retirement, benefits, and fair protections for things I have been doing for Five years now. Here's to following your dreams!

If you are interested in finding out more about AFTRA, the website is www.aftra.org.

Well, that's it for now.
Time for me to get back to memorizing!
Best,
-Matt

Well, its been about a month since my last update - so my apologies for the delay!
I hope everyone who reads this had a wonderful Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year, and any other holiday you may have celebrated in the interim!

I finished up the run of Christmas Carol at the historic Palace Theater in Manchester, NH directly before Christmas. The run was very fun, if chaotic. Our original Scrooge was unfortunately unable to finish the run do to an injury, so we had the pleasure of working with another two Scrooges during our final 8 days. It was a wonderful cast bonding experience through the unexpected adversity, but the show must always go on!

For those of you who missed the production, there are pictures now available: here!
For those of you who made it (my wonderful family all came as well as several friends locally!), please enjoy the memories as well.

So now, it's back to NYC and back to auditions. My next contract starts in April with Spring Awakening at the Roxy Theater in Tennessee. We shall see what comes up next!

I wish you all the best my friends,
-Matt
